A New Era of Type Design
The protagonist of our story is not a single person, but a community of passionate designers who faced a challenge: How can you preserve quality and uniqueness in a digital world that demands ever more typefaces?
The conflict was obvious. Traditional type design methods are time-consuming and resource-intensive. Every glyph, every letter requires hours of precise handwork. At the same time, the demand for custom typefaces for digital platforms, brands, and multilingual projects grew exponentially.
The solution came from an unexpected direction: neural networks and machine learning. German foundries began training AI models that absorbed decades of typographic knowledge and were capable of generating new, unique letterforms. Human creativity remained at the center – AI became a tool, not a replacement.
